Best day of my life so far: "New Jersey's Case of the Mondays, whose name alone should be enough to draw in a listener or two, show their undeniable potential at every opportunity on Swimmin' With Plus Size Women. Hailing from the state that has given birth to more bands than the NHL has concussions, Case of the Mondays blend ska, rock, and reggae into their own infectious brand of melodies." ~Absolutepunk.net

Beverage of choice: tanqueray and tonic

Education: rock

Hometown: Muck City

I listen to: We sound similiar to Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Rx Bandits, Sublime, 311, Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto.

I read: "COTM really has a knack for sounding like their generation - anti-poetic and slightly sarcastic. It's catchy, it's fun, it's everything positive about ska." ~Origivation Magazine

I watch: "Truth is, the band members are hilarious and it comes through in their performance, yet it doesn’t over power the vibrant songs that make the audience hop. The music is contagious. The drums pop and the horns blaze while the vocals bellow lyrical wit. Even as a firsttime listener, there’s no yearning for them to play something familiar because the original songs are so engaging. Case of the Mondays played in the Ska is Dead 3 tour at the Trocadero with The Toasters and Mustard Plug among others. They [were] also one of 80 remaining semi-finalists, in a competition of 290 bands across the country, in the third round of the Zippo Hot Tour of unsigned bands." ~South Jersey Magazine

Interests and activities: Bands are a dime a dozen, that's all there is to it. Case of the Mondays separate themselves from the norm by coating catchy ska, rock and reggae riffs with clever lyrics and contagious melodies. In a modern music market saturated with whining, screaming, angst-driven manic-depressives, they trudge forward armed with unwavering optimism: with dreams of helping steer popular music away from the medicine cabinet of despair. You could classify Case of the Mondays as a ska band, but one listen would prove otherwise. They coat catchy rock riffs with ska rhythms, add a dash of reggae, a twist of punk, and occasionally garnish this distinct concoction with a hint of hip-hop. Including having self-produced two EPs, Case of the Mondays has several other noteworthy accomplishments in their 5 year career. They opened up the Philadelphia leg of the Ska is Dead Tour, were Zippo Hot Tour semi-finalists in 2005, and have enjoyed radio play on several Philadelphia stations including 93.3 WMMR, and Y100.3 FM. Case of the Mondays has opened up for many national acts including legendary ska band The Toasters, Streetlight Manifesto, Mustard Plug, and Gym Class Heroes. They have performed at renowned Philadelphia venues such as the Trocadero, Grape Street Philadelphia, and the Theater of Living Arts. The internet has proven to be a successful forum for Case of the Mondays. They have topped the charts on Garageband.com as well as 15MegsofFame.com. Their Myspace.com stats are impressive to say the least, and their merchandise sales have grown worldwide. Rob Harrigan and Pete Bates are the secret formula for the band’s rhythm section; balancing both modest playing styles and intricate techniques to form a unique yet solid foundation. Dustin Dellinger adds to the mix with his imaginative guitar riffs and subtle method. Jon Gray’s powerful melodies are the vehicle for his witty and honest lyrics; providing Case of the Mondays with their signature sound. Finally, their horn section, comprised of Brian Gannon, Matt Diamond and Bob Gordon, set them apart from your average rock band with commanding arrangements and unparalleled vigor.

    There is a God!!

    Jerry Falwell died yesterday

This man was the epitomy of evil. This so-called religious man represents all that is wrong with this world. Ironically, his death allows me to believe that maybe there is a God (only of course if Pat Robertson drops tomorrow)

If you disagree, let me remind you that he considered Katrina and 9/11 to be God's punishment for all the gays and non-Christians, while he shamelessy collected money in their name. Remember gays, God (who created you) HATES YOU. Nice Christian attitude. Gimmie a break. Here are some other wonderful quotes by Ol' Jerry:

"If you are not a born again Christian, you are a failure as a human being"

"I believe that global warming is a myth. And so, therefore, I have no conscience problem at all and am going to buy a Suburban next time"

"Christians, like slaves or soldiers, ask no questions"

"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuality"

"There's been a conserted effort to steal Christmas"

    "Textbooks are Soviet propoganda"

"I think hell is a real place where real people spend real eternity"

and of course my personal favorite:

"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the devil to keep Christians from running their own country"

He started the moral maority in the 80's, which is slowly erasing our right to free speech. Granted it disbanded around '89 but you can be sure his political pull still affected the media and is part of the reason the FCC is so hell-bent on "cleaning up" the radio and tv.

To recklessly use religion as a means to influence groups of people the way that Falwell did is not very different from the Taliban in my mind.

When they do the autopsy, I wonder if they will find a heart, or if his chest will open up (like the turkey in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) and black smoke and vampire bats will fly out.

and Dubya Bush spoke today saying what a great man Falwell was. What is going on?!?!?!

Thank you! I'm so glad it's not just me. I'll have to check out that ""ring around the collar"" article. Right after I brush up on how to fluff a pillow and read about the 50 different household uses for bounce dryer sheets.
